Do you need an Anti-Virus for Winndows Mobile 5.0?

I have a Trimble GeoXH gps which runs on a windows mobile 5\.0 platform. We are hooked up to a wireless network and spend quite a bit of time on the net. I was wondering if an anti-virus is needed for such platform?

Not really – or at least not yet. There no widespread malware programs for this environment – just a couple of viruses, a Trojan horse, and a commercial spyware that you’re extremely unlikely to encounter. So, an anti-virus – especially a known-virus scanner – is basically a waste of money.

There are other threats that should worry you much more than viruses. For instance, connecting to rogue WiFi points that sniff your traffic and capture passwords, etc. The possibility to have the device (and the data stored on it) stolen. Things like that.
