Windows Mobile Version Questions?
I know there is a Windows Mobile 5, 6, and 6.1 today, but I was wondering a phone can be updated previous version? For, example, if I get a phone on Windows Mobile 6.1 and version 7 comes later, I'll be able to upgrade to version 7? is also when an application is made to Windows Mobile 6, which also included 6.1? Finally, what is the difference between standard versions and professional? Thanks for the help and sorry for all those questions.
My understanding is that the ability to upgrade to newer versions of Windows Mobile is with your service provider. I suppose it is therefore the customization for each provider you need to provide the update. If you're a hacker, I guess could do this yourself at risk of bricking the phone, of course. I'm running 6.1 and I have not seen any applications running on 6, but not 6.1. I think the different versions relate only to what device is running on – Smartphone or PDA is professional, PocketPC, without the phone is standard, so remember from the time the phones went out – I can find no current reference.
