Part III – What more can look for in selecting a business cell phone (eg Smart Phone, PDA)?
This is the 3rd and final installment of answers to the question I asked in a business community wide network recently ….. "What characteristics and factors you consider most important when choosing a business cell …. phone and why? "
Keep reading for the last shot in the lighting (and maybe a smile or 2).
* "In my case I would put the features in the following order:
– The full keyboard (sometimes a mild is fine)
– UMTS (roaming)
– Good email client
– From battery
– Touch screen
– GPS (when renting a car)
– USB charger "
* "Here's my simple list:
1) easy to call
2) synchronization with Outlook …. and remember the milk
2) wlan "
* "First, the functions of the phone should be good (calls, receive calls, listen for messages ..). For me, all the other features are only a supplement.
If a phone can not call, then it's just a mini bad computer. "
* "The ability to run software that can connect to the server of my company e-mail client. Our phones Nokia E-Series can run several clients, including Blackberry client and other mail servers of the common enterprise customers. "
* "To me and my business, first of all, I have to have:
– Reliability of the signal
– Clear call
– Battery
When I'm on the road, with the following allows me to be in touch with customers:
– Contact well organized application
– Easy application accessible calendar
– Good email function
– Good connectivity to the web
– QWERTY keyboard for easy access to my e-mail
Honestly, the rest is bells and whistles, and while fun, is not essential.
I see the phone is first and foremost a phone. "
* "For me it was the T111 Nokia E series mostly because of the speed of data access. I am currently looking at HTC. Another one glance out for is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. "
* "Is it going to look like an error on the side of my head when I am using it."
* "I use the 8525 and it seems to be a very effective tool in my daily work. I can check and write emails, edit Excel spread, Telnet and work in the system as needed from my phone. The large screen with easy to use Windows functionality makes this phone one of the best for business. "
* "We use a Sprint BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Phone. It is invaluable as the BlackBerry IM use daily, especially for communication during events. The package also includes the detention plan to your computer (PC or Mac!), For use as a data card. We use Rackspace to provide functions Exchange and BlackBerry Exchange Server. It has a perfect synchronization with email, calendaring, contacts, tasks and memos. Once you add additional (free) applications such as Vigo (mobile RSS reader), Google Maps, beyond 411, the "Berry becomes an addiction. Did I mention that it has
one slot SIM card for use at international level? "
* "I use the Samsung SCH-i760 from Verizon, because it works with Windows and has a full keyboard (slide). I think Blackberry and Palm leaves much to be desired from the viewpoint of software. I used a XV6700 for 2 years and it was good for the same reasons as the Samsung. However, the Samsung is much smaller / more elegant and has a better performance. I tried a Treo with Windows and the keyboard was too small for me to use comfortably. "
* "We are real estate agents. … We have to be mobile and the phone is one of our very most important tools.
July 1, 2008 in California ….. if you do not have a phone with voice activated dialing, it would violate the law of dialing by hand while you're driving. So I went to my local Verizon store and bought a top of the line Bluetooth headset. I asked them to connect to my Treo 750 … only 3 months old … and to my surprise … My phone does not support voice dialing.
So now I'm getting ready to trade up to a Blackberry Pearl 8130.
My list would be:
1. Voice Activated Dialing Bluetooth
2. stable operating platform compatible with any 3 rd party software that
need.
3. Ease of use … ergonomic keyboard and good visibility in all lighting
4. excellent customer service for when an error … all do. "
* "The most important features for me are:
– A large screen for navigation web.
– Office and PDF document viewing.
– Bluetooth File Transfer to send and receive documents, contacts and large files like videos (I find that this is the main limitation iPhones).
– GPS receiver to save time in finding directions.
– E-mail, SMS, MMS (lack MMS is a big iPhone other limitation)
– Good battery life.
– 3G or Edge to surf the Internet and download emails quickly.
– SyncML ability to synchronize the address book, calendar and tasks with an online organizer automatically.
Finally, I think it is very important to have a good easy to use software that allows access to all phone functions without having to go through more menus. "
* "I love my AT & T Tilt. It has a QWERTY keyboard. Run Windows. It has high-speed 3G Internet. So I can send emails and browse Internet very quickly. It also has pocket versions of Word, Excel, etc. ..
It has a pretty good built in camera but rarely use it.
I'm always doing in the e-mail or phone. It is a very clever device. I really do not use my notebook more. "
* "In addition to PDA functionality such as integration with e-mail and calendar applications, I prefer a top-flight phone without a camera. Many companies prohibit visitors from bringing in cameras, which could mean leaving the phone at the reception as you head into a meeting. A phone the company is no good if you can not take with you. "
* "In my opinion, the most important factor in choosing a cell phone business is understanding your business objectives. If your business is not dependent on email, then a PDA with access real time e-mail you will not benefit one iota. If your business requires instant communication, you must
Push to talk and SMS. One must know what to look for when looks in any business purchase, but especially in their computing devices. In the mobile industry, it is easy to become distracted by the bells, and whistles features unnecessary.
The system meets my needs is the Palm Treo because I need the ease of use, quality of voice, email, instant and reliable battery. It is also a very useful device for 3rd party applications and has a great support team behind him.
That's all folks … At the end of our series of 3 parts of what to look for in business mobile phones (smart phones and PDAs). Hopefully you saw something that turned a light on for your business phone beside … and perhaps made you laugh a bit too.
